Job Title:         Supply Chain Quality / Manufacturing Engineer

Duties/Responsibilities:          
This position is based out of Albuquerque, NM. The Supply Chain Quality / Manufacturing Engineer works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Purchasing teams to ensure that the Supply Chain Partner is producing and delivering products directly to our customers will meet the quality requirements set forth by the engineering and purchasing departments. Up to 50% domestic and Canadian travel is required in support of oversight of product quality shipping from our supply chain partners.

  • Ensures that the products shipping from our supply chain partners for delivery to our customers meet all quality requirements.
  • Conducts regular visits to assigned suppliers to review manufacturing processes, quality systems / controls, pre-launch readiness, root cause identification, corrective actions, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Responsible for identifying and resolving specification alignment issues between manufacturing (process) requirements and supplied product.
  • Develop complete quality and manufacturing plans with the supply chain partner.
  • Investigates supplied-product quality issues and work directly with supply chain partners to ensure appropriate containment steps and corrective actions are taken in a timely manner.
  • Collects the supply chain partner’s quality / delivery data, creates (plant-specific) supplier scorecards, and submits performance reports for review to Senior Management.
  • Responsible for communicating quality issues to various stakeholders throughout the organization, as well as serving as a central point of contact for addressing supplier quality / delivery issues at the commodity level.
  • Review performance scorecard metrics with assigned suppliers (by commodity) on a quarterly basis to verify status and outline action items necessary for improvement.
  • Oversees the incoming inspection process to ensure continuous flow of quality materials to the facility.
  • Work with the Supply Chain Materials Planning and Purchasing groups to ensure material availability and assist with resolving supply constraints.
  • Works closely with the Quality Manager and Purchasing Manager to identify, monitor, and prioritize supplier improvement needs.
  • Significant travel to the supply chain partners locations and customer project sites is required in administering the responsibilities of the position

 

Skills/Educational Requirements:      

  • BSME, BSMfgE, BSQA or professional equivalent desired.
  • 5 plus years industrial experience in a metals processing environment or high speed / volume manufacturing.
  • Advanced training and documented knowledge or experience in implementing Lean-Sigma or 6 Sigma techniques highly desirable. Professional Society certification (CMfgE, CQE, CQM, 6 Sigma Greenbelt or Black Belt) and Minitab would be a plus.
  • Ability to interact well with others and create a positive teamwork environment required.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Minitab required.
